4 ways to learn to speak up, become more confident, and lose weight more easily
Updated: Oct 12, 2020
If you’ve been reading some of my blog posts, you’ll know by now that I firmly believe that anything you want to achieve in your life starts by reaching balance in your inner world. And weight loss is no different.
Your body weight is deeply connected to your mental well-being. If the latter is not achieved, then any attempt to change your weight will be a struggle and, very possibly, short-lived.
How many times have you thought: “when I lose X pounds, then I’ll be happy”. But here’s the raw truth: weightless follows happiness, not the other way around.
There are so many techniques and tools available to achieve a healthier mind. We all know the traditional ones, like therapy and meditation, although there are some unconventional ones that could be just as helpful!

You might have heard of the Chakras before, maybe during a yoga class, but you might still wondering what that is all about. Chakras are energy centers that connect your inner world to the outer world. In practical terms, the way you experience your life affects the chakras, which then affect what happens in your body energetically.
There are 7 chakras, and each one of them is influenced by a particular emotion. The throat chakra can often be the one having a significant impact on how your body metabolizes what you eat, and, consequently, on your weight loss goals.
The throat chakra regulates the thyroid and, with it, the production of hormones. It also has a direct relationship with food, as everything you eat goes literally through it.
This chakra is all about feeling heard, speaking your truth, have a voice in the world. For this reason, it is very affected by emotions like shame, humiliation, and anger. This makes sense if you think about it as you may have experienced the impulse of finding relief in food when you felt unheard, ashamed, humiliated, or angry. We use food to literally push down unspoken feelings and needs.
When this problem goes on for a long time, it can cause metabolic disorders and make the efforts to lose weight even more ineffective.
If you feel recognized in this pattern, don’t worry! There are simple techniques that, if repeated consistently over time, can help you activate your throat chakra:
Affirmations. The act of saying certain words out loud without fear is a perfect way to start getting used to speaking up. Some examples could be “I always speak my truth”, “ I communicate my needs freely and openly”, or “My opinions are important and deserve to be heard”. These are just examples, but you can be creative and come up with sentences that hit the spot for you.
Singing! I’m not talking about humming here. What I mean is taking the habit to sing loudly and confidently your favorite tunes. If you feel like you can’t do that as it feels too embarrassing, this is an indication that you should definitely do that.
Kindness. Careful, I’m talking about real kindness coming from an authentic place, not the type of kindness done because it’s the right thing to do, or because deep down, you’re afraid of the consequences of not behaving kindly. This needs to be the type of kindness that is unconditional and pure, just for the sake of it!
Energy healing. Some energy healing techniques can work directly on the chakras and change their energy. In my practice, I use BodyTalk System®, which allows you to get to the root cause of your throat chakra blockage and helps you release it once for all.
Once your throat chakra is properly balanced, you’ll see that losing weight becomes almost effortless! Whether you believe in this or not, singing out loud and giving kindness won’t make your life worse! ;)
